This film is a contemporary cover of a 1928 blues song written and performed by Ma Rainey, a famous blues singer of the 1920s. The song was written with explicitly lesbian lyrics, a fact which is played up in a newspaper ad selling the record. This short film opens with the ad copy, followed by a performance of the song itself.
